ENG – Watt Town: Holy Songs from Jamaica

Three times a year, members of Zion Revival churches in Jamaica gather on a hill in Watt Town, St Ann, for a pilgrimage where elders pass their knowledge on to younger generations.

The film enters this ritual world through songs, rhythms and long sequences, revealing Revival as an important source of Jamaican spirituality and music.

Through the words of practitioners and witnesses, ENG – Watt Town: Holy Songs from Jamaica explores the links between Revival, Rastafari and the rhythms that later fed Dancehall.
